About Me

My name is Steven Waldie. I am 34 years old and single with no children. I was born in Odessa, Texas, and moved to Lamesa, Texas when I was a year and a half. I am a 1994 graduate of Lamesa High School and a 2003 graduate of Howard College with an Associate Degree in Science. I work with the West Texas Centers for MHMR (Mental Health and Mental Retardation) sheltered workshop on Thursdays. I do janitorial work and clean up after employees at the highway department. In my spare time I enjoy going to church, eating out, listening to music, surfing the Internet, watching sports on TV, and playing with my dog.

Hey Everybody! : Mar 11, 2010
Exciting news to pass along...

Sharon has been spayed! She was taken to Brock Veterinary Clinic, where they took really good care of her. I saved $100, which was enough for the spaying and the rabies shot she needed. When they brought her back the next day, she was in a crate. As soon as Dr. Brock's assistants opened it, she ran straight for my bedroom. She was sure excited to be home!

I also received some encouraging news about my house. My neighbor Santos came by in January to help me move in some furniture. He gave me a new sofa and entertainment center for my TV, my new DVD player, and my "antique" 20th century VCR (yes, we still have those). While at my house he noticed that the floors in the kitchen and hallway had cracks and holes, and he noticed the caved-in kitchen ceiling. He got through to the city engineer Ric Morningstar, and then Ric sent a letter saying the house was unsafe and wanted me to contact him within ten days. I was able to contact Ric and was supposed to have a meeting with him. Me and my case manager Kaci Porterfield invited him to come to the MHMR clinic but I did not let him know. We waited half an hour and he did not show up. I called Ric when I got home, and he said he wanted us to meet him at his office. We decided that Mr. Morningstar would no longer be involved in our situation because he wanted me to move out. Then Santos and I went to St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and had a conversation with Father Joseph. Father suggested that we bring up the issue of repairs to my house at the next Parish Council meeting. Santos went by himself because he had another meeting to go to and didn't have time to pick me up. The Council approved his proposal and two people from church will be helping us get the house all fixed up. We are still waiting for a construction crew and materials like sheet rock to be purchased. I am really, really excited about this.

And I turn 34 Sunday. I'm out, y'all! Gotta go celebrate!
